ShareSan Severino Marche and the hills of Pitino

We start from the square of San Severino Marche and we will cycle towards the Pitino hill. The hill on which the castle stands is located about 11 km from the center of San Severino Marche and from its 660 m. above sea level, it was undoubtedly a strategic place of dominion to control the upper Potenza valley. In the forties and fifties of the twentieth century, the site was subjected to an excavation campaign, which could uncover the existence of numerous archaeological finds from the Picene period, up to the Paleolithic period. Our ride will enter a truly fascinating environment from a landscape point of view, hills and cultivated fields will be the masters in this beautiful excursion. The return will be made by going downhill from Pitino until we cross the provincial road that will take us back to San Severino Marche.
