Falerone is a small town with a story to tell since the Augustan age, it was an important center until the fourth century. A.D.; its coat of arms, which depicts a medieval armor, recalls the domination of the town by the local Lordship of Saxon feudal lords, heirs of a warlike and war-torn people, who created their own state by dominating over 30 castles in the medium-high Val di Tenna , making Falerone their capital. A Samnite shield also appears inside the coat of arms. Inside it has a red band on a blue background with the inscription S.P.Q.F. and recalls the grandeur and splendor of the Roman city of Falerio Picenus, built in this municipality in 29 BC. and which was not inferior in importance to the nearby city of Fermo. We will ride in a magnificent setting, where history and nature still leave visitors amazed by so much beauty. We will take the road that slightly downhill connects Falerone to Monte Vidon Corrado and then descends towards the Tenna river. At that point, the chosen direction is to reach the Borgo Antico of Belmonte Piceno, a town very dear to cyclist friends and then descend back to Servigliano defined "City of Memory" for the prison camp built in 1915 and now home to a museum. After a visit, our ride will continue passing through some small abbeys dating back to the Lombard era. A first convent of monks stood in the Piagge district, near an ancient Lombard church called San Giovanni (now destroyed), not far from the place where the millenary Church of San Paolino still dates back to the Lombard period. There are only a few km of uphill left and here we are back in Falerone where we conclude our beautiful and historic ride.
